Project Goal

The primary goal of the Melrose Park Stormwater Improvements project is to clean and televise the existing drainage pipe system underground. Over the years, sediment and debris may have accumulated in the pipes, affecting their efficiency and capacity. Through this project, we will inspect and clean the underground drainage system to ensure it functions optimally during heavy rainfall and mitigates the risk of flooding.

Traffic Impact

We want to assure you that the traffic impact during this project will be kept to a minimum. The City’s contractor, FG Construction (FGC), will be working on the side of the road, ensuring that all local traffic can access your homes and destinations as usual. However, we kindly request everyone to exercise caution while driving through the construction area to ensure the safety of both motorists and our dedicated construction team. To further reduce disruptions and ensure a smooth flow of traffic, the Melrose Park Stormwater System Maintenance project has been thoughtfully divided into five distinct phases. Each phase will specifically target different areas of the underground drainage system, allowing us to concentrate our efforts and limit the impact on local traffic. Throughout the entire project, we are committed to maintaining access for residents to their homes and destinations.

Project Timeline

The Melrose Park Stormwater System Maintenance project is expected to begin tentatively on August 21st, 2023 and is estimated to be completed by December 31st, 2023. Please note that construction schedules are subject to change due to weather conditions and unforeseen circumstances.

Community Participation

We understand that any construction project may cause temporary inconveniences, and the Melrose Park Stormwater System Maintenance project is no exception. However, by thoughtfully splitting the work into five phases, our goal is to minimize disruptions as much as possible. Throughout the project’s duration, local traffic will have continued access to their homes and destinations, ensuring convenience and ease. As valued members of the Melrose Park community, your input is essential to us. We genuinely value your thoughts, feedback, and concerns about the project. Your insights will play a vital role in ensuring that we address any specific issues or considerations unique to Melrose Park effectively. We encourage you to actively participate and share your views, as it will contribute to the successful completion of the project and the overall improvement of our stormwater management system. Together, we can build a better, safer, and more resilient community.
