FG Construction is currently completing infrastructure improvements along NW 15th Avenue from Sunrise Boulevard to Mills Pond Park, aimed at making the corridor more comfortable and accessible for pedestrians while addressing drainage challenges that affect the area during heavy rain.

The work is taking place along the west side of NW 15th Avenue, where the existing sidewalk is being expanded from 5 feet to 10 feet wide. The wider sidewalk will create a more comfortable walking space for residents, park visitors, and commuters traveling through the neighborhood.

As part of the project, FG Construction is also constructing a new pedestrian access path connecting directly to Mills Pond Park, providing a clearer and safer entry point for people walking to the park from the surrounding community. This connection is intended to make it easier for families, neighbors, and visitors to reach one of the area’s most popular outdoor destinations.

In addition to improving pedestrian space, the project includes drainage upgrades throughout the corridor. New manholes and catch basins are being installed to help manage stormwater more effectively. Several intersections are also being regraded and repaved so rainwater flows properly into the drainage system rather than collecting in low spots.

Accessibility is another important part of the improvements. New ADA-compliant ramps are being installed to provide smoother transitions between sidewalks and crossings, improving mobility for people using wheelchairs, strollers, bicycles, or other mobility devices.

The sidewalks themselves are also being constructed with stronger materials designed for long-term durability, helping them withstand South Florida’s weather conditions and daily use.

Once complete, the improvements along NW 15th Avenue will result in a wider pedestrian corridor, improved drainage, and a new connection to Mills Pond Park, helping to create a safer, more walkable environment for the surrounding neighborhood.
